The bad news is Justice League just lost a composer. The good news is it also gained one.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Justice League has brought Danny Elfman on board to compose the score for the film. He arrives just as the film is starting work on additional photography, which some believe to be a direct result of Wonder Woman‘s huge success.
This is’t the first time Elfman is stepping into the world of DC; he previously composed the scores for Tim Burton’s Batman movies Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992). He also broadened his comic book movie horizons by venturing into Marvel stories with the first two instalments of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films.
Before Joss Whedon took over Justice League directing duties from Zack Snyder, who stepped down earlier this year after a family tragedy, Snyder had been working with composer Tom Holkenborg, also known as Junkie XL (Mad Max: Fury Road, Deadpool and Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice). However, THR’s sources say he is leaving the film in order to join the Tomb Raider reboot.
In a statement, Junkie XL said: “As my mentor Hans Zimmer told me — you haven’t made it in Hollywood as a composer until you get replaced on a project. So I guess [I] finally graduated this week. It pains me to leave the project, but a big thanks to Zack for asking me to part of his vision, and I wish Danny, Joss and Warner Bros all the best with Justice League.”
How very gracious.
