After appearing in a couple of big budget genre films like Suicide Squad and Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets over the last few years, model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne is making the move to TV.
Delevingne has just been added to the cast of upcoming fantasy series Carnival Row alongside Orlando Bloom. Set in the Victorian era, the series will tell a fantasy noir story over eight episodes, and is being produced by Legendary Television.
According to THR, Carnival Row “will feature mythical creatures who have fled their war-torn homeland and gathered in the city as tensions are simmering between citizens and the growing immigrant population. At the centre of the drama is the investigation into a string of unsolved murders, which are eating away at whatever uneasy peace still exists.”
Delevingne will play Vignette Stonemoss, a faerish refugee who flees her war-torn homeland to come to the Burgue, where she must contend with the secrets that have followed her to the new land as well as rampant human prejudice against her kind.
Meanwhile, Bloom is starring as protagonist Rycroft Philostrate, a police inspector investigating the murder of a faerie showgirl on Carnival Row.
The series will begin filming latest this year, with a release date set for sometime in 2019.
