Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen adds some solid new cast members

Though the prospect of Guillermo del Toro not returning to direct the upcoming Hellboy reboot, Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen, was somewhat distressing at first, the film is actually shaping up to sound pretty damn exciting.

With David Harbour (Stranger Things) and Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element) lined up to play Hellboy and the Blood Queen respectively, as well as Ian McShane (DeadwoodAmerican Gods), Daniel Dae Kim (Lost), Sasha Lane (American Honey) and Penelope Mitchell (Hemlock Grove) in supporting roles, the cast was already looking solid.

The film’s latest mass-casting news is also tasty: Sophie Okonedo, Alistair Petrie and Brian Gleeson have all recently joined the project. Their roles have also been revealed: Okanedo is set to play Lady Hatton, a seer at the Osiris Club; Petrie is playing Lord Adam Glaren, one of the club’s high-ranking members; and Gleeson is playing Merlin, who you should be familiar with already.

Neil Marshall is directing Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen, while Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Mike Mignola have written the screenplay based on the Dark Horse comics by Mignola.

Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen is in cinemas on 11 January 2019. Get all the latest horror news with every issue of SciFiNow.
