Preacher Season 3 is confirmed for more blasphemous brilliance, praise Humperdoo

Great news for fans of AMC’s violent, filthy and brilliant Preacher TV series as Seth Rogen has confirmed that their adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s comic will be back for a third season.

The ratings for the show haven’t been spectacular, which made us a little worried about its future, but Variety reports that the catch-up numbers have been solid. Preacher also enjoyed a much better critical reception in its second season as Jesse (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) let Annville, hit the road and wound up in New Orleans. We met the Grail team and the last scion (oh, Humperdoo), we witnessed Jesus having very noisy sex, and Arseface befriended Adolf Hitler in Hell. It was sharper, funnier and bolder, and we’re very pleased that it’s getting another go.

And we’re especially glad because of where the Season Two finale left us. There’s spoilers about to happen so if you’re not all caught up, stop reading now.

As you’ll remember, the second season ended with Tulip dead, and Jesse and Cassidy heading straight for the L’Angell mansion. Fans of the comics will know that there is absolutely nothing good waiting for the trio there, but it’s a huge part of Jesse’s backstory and the setting for some of the story’s very best moments. We can’t wait to see who they’ll cast as Marie, Jody and TC. Oh yeah, and Cassidy told Jesse that he hates him, so we need that resolved ASAP.

Preacher Seasons 1-2 are now streaming on Amazon Prime. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
