Proof that we’re not living in The Bad Place: Michael Schur’s latest sitcom The Good Place has officially been renewed for Season 3, to the surprise of no-one but the delight of everyone.
This excellent news comes during a forking excruciating hiatus — Season 2 is currently taking a break for the holidays and won’t return until 4 January in the US (NBC) and 5 January in the UK (Netflix).
Season 3 will consist of 13 episodes, which makes sense as Schur has always been dead set on the series having a smaller number of episodes per season than the traditional sitcom. Keeping seasons short and sweet will hopefully mean the genius idea behind the show won’t grow old too quickly.
If you haven’t been watching The Good Place, you should really do something about that. With its tight script, outlandish ideas and excellent core cast (made up of Kristen Bell, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, D’Arcy Carden, Manny Jacinto and Ted Danson), it’s a laugh-a-minute delight. And the fact that there are currently 20 episodes on Netflix means that there’s not loads to catch up on, but there’s still enough to keep you hungry until January.
The Good Place Season 2 continues on 5 January on Netflix UK. Get all the latest fantasy news with every issue of SciFiNow.
