Masters Of The Universe reboot eyes David S Goyer to direct

The big screen reboot of Masters Of The Universe has often found itself in trouble since its early development in 2007, but it looks like it might finally all be coming together: The Dark Knight writer David S Goyer is currently in talks to direct the reboot, according to THR.

The film has changed hands multiple times as far as directors and writers are concerned. Jeff Wadlow, Mike Cahill, Harald Zwart and Chris McKay were all shortlisted to direct in 2014, with McG finally being confirmed for the job in 2016.

However, things change and the film announced that McG would no longer be directing earlier this year, which brings us to Goyer, who is also writing the script.

The new Masters Of The Universe is based on the Mattel toy line and subsequent animated TV series and 1987 movie of the same name. They are all set in a medieval/sci-fi hybrid world and revolve around a conflict between protagonist He-Man and the evil Skeletor.

The reboot currently has no actors attached, but it better get a move on seeing as it’s being released in 2019. However, it looks as though Kellen Lutz is very keen on taking on the role of He-Man.

Masters Of The Universe is set to hit cinemas on 20 December 2019. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
