After The Hunger Games, Zombieland and War Of The Planet Of The Apes, Woody Harrelson looks to be becoming something of a genre regular. The point is driven home even further following the news that the actor is currently in talks to star in Sony’s upcoming superhero film Vemon.
Sony has not commented on the casting yet and the character details are, as always, being kept under wraps, but sources say that Harrelson will be playing a henchman of some sort. Sure, things are vague, but we’re still excited.
Not much has happened in terms of Venom‘s production so far, but it already sounds pretty damn intriguing. Along with Harrelson, Tom Hardy is taking on the lead role of Eddie Brock, also known as Venom himself, and Michelle Williams (Manchester By The Sea), Riz Ahmed (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Jenny Slate (Obvious Child) are also onboard in supporting roles.
Zombieland and 30 Minutes Or Less director Ruben Fleischer is helming the project, while Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower) and Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle) are collaborating on the script.
With the alien symbiote character of Venom being as popular as he is, Sony is making the film a top priority, so we can expect the film to hit cinemas in less than a year
Venom is in UK cinemas on 5 October 2018. Get all the latest comic book movie news with every issue of SciFiNow.
