Flashpoint taps John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein for the directors’ chairs

Screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are defecting from Marvel to DC: the duo, who co-wrote the script for Spider-Man: Homecoming, have reportedly been tapped to join the Flash solo movie, Flashpoint. However, for Flashpoint they will be directing.

Though the pair are best known for their scripts (which also include Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2, both Horrible Bosses films and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone), Flashpoint won’t be their first time in the directors’ chairs; they also helmed feature film Vacation in 2015.

It’s no secret that the DC Extended Universe has frequently been criticised about its gritty, steely tone by cinema goers. With Daley and Goldstein being best known for their comedy leanings, it’s possible that Warner Bros are wanting Flashpoint to change the tone a little.

Rick Famuyiwa was originally set to direct Flashpoint before stepping away. But with star Ezra Miller getting ready to start filming on Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald, so the Warner Bros had room to take their time over the decision for director.

Flashpoint is in cinemas in 2020. A release date is yet to be confirmed. Get all the latest superhero news with every issue of SciFiNow.
