Though the Men In Black spin-off film in the works at Sony was recently fast-tracked, the release date has also been pushed back slightly, moving it from 17 May 2019 to 14 June 2019.
The move means the spin-off will no longer be going up against John Wick: Chapter Three at the box office. However, its new release date is already occupied by Warner Bros’ Shaft remake.
The film, which is currently untitled, is being produced by Walter F Parkes and Laurie MacDonald and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. No director is attached just yet, but Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, but both worked on Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight, are writing the script.
News of another Men In Black film first emerged a while ago, when it was believed that Sony was planning on combining MIB with the 21 Jump Street franchise, starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, with Tatum and Hill stepping into the suits for Jay and Kay. That idea still seems to be happening, but a lot later down the line.
The untitled Men In Black sequel will be in cinemas on 14 June 2019. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
