Southbound and XX director Roxanne Benjamin makes feature debut with Body At Brighton Rock

Roxanne Benjamin has directed segments of ace anthology horrors Southbound and XX, and she’s about to make her feature directorial debut with the splendidly-named Body At Brighton Rock.

Variety reports that the film is currently in production and that it’s just been picked up for worldwide distribution by Magnet. Benjamin also wrote the film, which “centers on a novice park ranger who must spend the night guarding a potential crime scene on a remote mountain trail.” Karina Fontes, who previously starred in Southbound, leads the cast, which also includes Casey Adams, Emily Althaus, John Getz, Matt Peters, Miranda Bailey and Susan Burke.

Benjamin was a producer on the V/H/S movies, Riley Stearns’ brilliant Faults and Sean Byrne’s bafflingly underrated The Devil’s Candy before jumping into directing with her excellent ‘Siren’ segment of Southbound. Her ‘Don’t Fall’ segment of XX has some survival thriller elements to it and it’ll be interesting to see how far into genre Body At Brighton Rock leans…
