It’s actually happening, folks! According to Variety, Jessica Chastain is currently in talks for It: Chapter 2 as the adult version of Beverly.
We’ve been hoping this would happen, not least because Chastain in basically the adult spit of young Beverly actress Sophia Lillis. Director Andy Muschietti also actually wanted Chastain, who he worked with on his 2008 horror Mama, for the role, and it only fanned the casting flames further.
Then there’s the fact that Chastain gave some admittedly non-committal enthusiasm towards the end of last year when Screen Rant asked her if she’d be up for appearing in the film.
“Well, I love Andy and Barbara [Muschietti],” she said. “I worked with them on Andy’s directorial debut, you know, his film, Mama. His first film. And you know, Barbara is one of my best friends so…We’ll see. Listen, of course, I want to work… they’re my friends. They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen.”
Sure, Chastain’s involvement in It: Chapter 2 is still only in the “in talks” stages, but we reckon it’s definitely going to happen at this point.
The film’s script is being written by Gary Dauberman, and Bill Skarsgård is returning as Pennywise.
It: Chapter 2 is schedules to hit US cinemas on 6 September 2019. Get all the latest horror news with every issue of SciFiNow.
