Snowpiercer TV series gains new showrunner in Graeme Manson

Sound the Snowpiercer conch! More news regarding TNT’s upcoming TV adaptation has come to light!

The seemingly cursed series had been left in limbo after ex-showrunner Josh Friedman abruptly exited in January, but a month later it’s finally found a replacement: Orphan Black co-creator Graeme Manson.

TNT’s executive vice president of original programming Sarah Aubrey said: “Graeme’s extensive background in the sci-fi genre coupled with his brilliant work behind Orphan Black made him the perfect choice for this series. He is the best conductor to navigate the thought provoking and delicate themes of the series while bringing this frozen, futuristic world to life.”

The series is of course based on Bong Joon Ho’s epic film of the same name, with a cast led by Jennifer Connelly and Hamilton‘s Daveed Diggs.

Other confirmed cast members include Mickey Sumner (Battle Of The SexesFrances Ha), Susan Park (Vice PrincipalsThe Good Place), Benjamin Haigh, Sasha Frolova (The OA), Katie McGuinness (Lucky ManRoots), Alison Wright (The AmericansThe Accountant), Annalise Basso (OculusOuija: Origin Of Evil), Sam Otto (The State), Roberto Urbina (Narcos), Sheila Vand (A Girl Walks Home Alone At NightXX), Hiro Kanagawa (iZombieThe Man In The High Castle), Lena Hall (GirlsBoJack Horseman) and Robin Weigert (DeadwoodJessica Jones). Bong Joon-ho, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi are on board as executive producers.

Snowpiercer “is set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland. It centers on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival are questioned in this riveting television adaptation.”
