The Grudge reboot wants Andrea Riseborough to star


No matter how you feel about the concept of a The Grudge reboot, this latest piece of casting news might be enough to get you at least a little excited: according to Deadline, Andrea Riseborough is currently in talks to star.

The character Riseborough could be taking on is so far unnamed, but she’s thought to be a young single mother and detective. Riseborough’s recent acting credits include The Death Of StalinBattle Of The Sexes and Black Mirror‘s Season 4 episode ‘Crocodile‘.

The Grudge reboot is coming from Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures. Nicolas Pesce, the writer and director of the chilling indie horror The Eyes Of My Mother, has signed on to direct and rewrite the script, which had been written by Midnight Meat Train‘s Jeff Buhler.

 

The original 2002 Japanese film, known as Ju-on: The Grudge, was directed by Takashi Shimizu. It ended up spawning a US remake starring Sarah Michelle Geller in 2004, followed by two sequels in 2006 and 2009.
