Marvel’s Runaways finally has a UK broadcaster and airdate

Sometimes it sucks being a non-US citizen when you’re really into US shows. Many UK fans found themselves on that train last year when Marvel’s Runaways started airing on Hulu (to great acclaim, we might add), while they stayed in twiddling their thumbs and watching repeats of Agents Of SHIELD.

It seemed a bit weird that E4, Sky 1 and Netflix had called ownership on every US superhero show EXCEPT Runaways, so it was starting to feel like we’d never get to see it.

However, a broadcaster has finally stepped forward to put us out of our misery: Runaways will be making its way to its new international home of Syfy UK on 18 April, so UK viewers can catch the show for the first time.

Runaways revolves around a group of regular teenagers who need to band together for the greater good when they find out their parents are all working for an evil organisation called The Pride.

In a statement, executive producers and Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said: “The fun and chemistry that this group of talented actors create is wonderful and we’re so excited to bring these beloved characters to life.”

Rhenzy Feliz as Alex Wilder, Lyrica Okano (The Affair) Nico Minoru, Virginia Gardner (Goat) as Karolina Dean, Ariela Barer (One Day at a Time) as Gert Yorkes, Gregg Sulkin (Faking It) as Chase Stein and Allegra Acosta (100 Things to do Before High School) as Molly Hernandez.

Marvel’s Runaways is set to air on Syfy UK on 18 April. Get all the latest superhero news with every issue of SciFiNow.
