With Jessica Chastain finally confirmed for the role of adult Beverly Marsh, Andy Muschietti’s IT: Chapter 2 is lining up the rest of its Losers’ Club and we’re very excited about the two new faces he’s got lined up.
THR reports that James McAvoy and Bill Hader are in talks to star in the sequel to the Stephen King horror smash. McAvoy is up for the role of adult Bill Denbrough (played by Jaeden Lieberher) and Hader for adult Richie Tozier (Finn Wolfhard).
They’re not confirmed yet but they would be excellent choices. McAvoy’s most recent roles have had a little more swagger to them (even his Professor Xavier has his arrogant moments) but he’s incredibly versatile and always watchable.
We’re particularly excited about the choice of Bill Hader for Richie. The SNL veteran is a hilarious comic actor as he’s proved in everything from Superbad and Hot Rod to Trainwreck, and he’s got great dramatic chops as evidenced in films like The Skeleton Twins. He’s also getting amazing reviews for his new HBO dark comedy series Barry, and he was also Finn Wolfhard’s pick for the adult version of the character and that’s surely legally binding.
With production scheduled for a July start, we should expect to hear more casting news very soon. Bill Skarsgård is back, of course, as Pennywise the dancing clown, while the young cast of the first film will return for flashback sequences.
It: Chapter 2 is schedules to hit US cinemas on 6 September 2019. Get all the latest horror news with every issue of SciFiNow.
