A Quiet Place sequel is in the works at Paramount

John Krasinksi’s low-budget horror A Quiet Place has been one of the biggest success stories of the year so far. The acclaimed horror has currently pulled in $213 million worldwide from a $17 million budget, and even clawed its way back to number 1 at the US box office last weekend (it’s still there this morning, but Infinity War should end that run…). It’s also really good, so it’s not too surprising to hear that Paramount wants more.

Variety reports that the studio’s chairman-CEO Jim Gianopulos told the CinemaCon crowd that “We’re thrilled to say that we’re already working on the sequel to A Quiet Place.

There’s no information beyond that. The studio would presumably want to keep everyone on board, but John Krasinski’s schedule is looking pretty damn busy as Amazon just announced that it’s given Jack Ryan a second season before the first has even aired, and Emily Blunt is heading into Jungle Cruise imminently.

Still there’s nothing to say that the story couldn’t follow a new family trying to stay silent as a group of ravenous alien creatures that hunt by sound prowl around their hugely impressive farmhouse/survival fortress, and we assume Krasinski would stay on as a producer even if he doesn’t write, direct and star for the second time.

A Quiet Place is in cinemas now. Keep up with the latest horror news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
