Syfy’s Tremors series is no longer happening, RIP

The prospect of a Tremors TV series had us pumped for the best part of a year, but now our hopes have been crushed by Syfy officially cancelling the project before it has even aired. Boooooo.

Star and executive producer Kevin Bacon announced the news on Instagram, saying: “Sad to report that my dream of revisiting the world of Perfection will not become a reality. Although we made a fantastic pilot (IMHO) the network has decided not to move forward. Thanks to our killer cast and everyone behind the scenes who worked so hard. And always keep one eye out for GRABOIDS!”

The Tremors TV series was first announced back in November 2015. It was in the works from Universal Cable Productions and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions. Broadcaster Syfy was keen to get in in on the project, but clearly not keen enough considering it axed it before the pilot had even aired.

The pilot episode was set 15 years after the events of the original film, and starred Bacon as Valentine McKee, who had to return to Perfection, Nevada and was once again tasked with trying to save humanity from the Graboids.

It was written by Andrew Miller (The Secret Circle) and directed by Vincenzo Natali (Splice). Alongside Bacon, it also starred Hunter Parrish, Brandon Jay McLaren, PJ Byrne, Megan Ketch, Emily Tremaine, Ebonee Noel, Shiloh Fernandez and Haley Tju.
