The Purge TV series casts Fiona Dourif

Chucky and Dirk Gently star Fiona Dourif signs on for The Purge TV show

We’re big fans of Fiona Dourif thanks to her excellent work on the last two Chucky movies as Nica and the recently-cancelled Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency as holistic assassin Bart Curlish, so we’re very pleased to hear that she’s joined the cast of USA Network and Syfy’s upcoming TV series based on the “all crime is legal for one night a year” movie franchise The Purge.

Deadline reports that Dourif has been cast in the recurring role of “cool and offbeat, Good Leader Tavis, the much-adored, charismatic cult leader, dispensing blessings to her fawning followers.”

The impressive cast already includes Gabriel Chavarria, Lili Simmons, Jessica Garza, Amanda Warren, Colin Woodell, Hannah Anderson, Lee Tergesen, and William Baldwin.

James DeMonaco, who has written every film in the series so far and directed all but the upcoming The First Purge, has created the show and will oversee it. It’s described as “an entirely new chapter in America’s 12 hours of annual lawlessness and is slated to launch in conjunction with the next installment in the movie franchise.” DeMonaco recently told EW that the show will be roughly 70% Purge Night and 30% flashbacks.
