Outlander renewed for Seasons 5 and 6

The TV gods have spoken: Outlander gets to live another few years at least, with Starz officially renewing it for Season 5 and Season 6.

The renewal is for 24 new episodes, meaning both seasons will consist of 12 episodes, making them slightly shorter than usual. In addition to the news, it was also announced that Season 4 of the show will premiere in November this year. An exact air date is yet to be confirmed.

In a statement, Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said: “Fans can rest assured their beloved Claire and Jamie will be back facing new challenges, adversaries and adventures in seasons five and six as we delve into American history and continue the story of the Frasers as they settle in the New World.”

Outlander was created by Ronald D Moore and is based on the best-selling book series by Diana Gabaldon. Seasons 5 and 6 will follow the story covered in the fifth and sixth books in the series, The Fiery Cross and A Breath Of Snow And Ashes.

The show stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Duncan Lacroix as Murtagh Fraser, Tobias Menzies as Jack Randall, Grant O’Rourke as Rupert MacKenzie, Graham McTavish as Dougal MacKenzie and Stephen Walters as Angus Mhor.

Outlander Season 4 will premiere in November 2018. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
