Gotham renewed for Season 5, but it will be the last

It’s had a good run, but time’s almost up for Fox’s Gotham; the show has been renewed for Season 5, but it will be the last one.

The cancellation may be disappointing for the show’s fans, but at least Gotham is being given the opportunity to deliver a solid and hopefully satisfying conclusion.

Following the news, Bruce Wayne actor David Mazouz posted the following on his Instagram:

“I am so overjoyed that we will have the opportunity to finish the story the first four seasons of Gotham have begun to tell,” he wrote. “I love the family we have built and feel so grateful to be apart of a project with fans so passionate. And when our fate was still on the line, it was you guys I was most upset about.

“The thought of ending on a note that did not display the end of each characters path terrified me as it would mean everyone who invested their time and energy into caring about what happens to these people and how they get where they’re going would be left with disappointment. Thank you Fox for giving us this opportunity to finish strong. And thank you all for keeping this show alive.”

Alongside Mazouz, Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Michael Smith as Edward Nygma, Morena Baccarin as Dr Leslie Thompkins, Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean, Alexander Siddig as Ra’s Ah Ghul, Crystal Reed as Sofia Falcone, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan and Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth.

Gotham Season 4 is currently airing on E4 in the UK. Get all the latest superhero news with every issue of SciFiNow.
