Zombieland 2 has a release date and will bring back the old cast

Zombieland’s writers reveal the expected release date for the upcoming sequel

It’s been a while since we have heard about Zombieland 2, but the sequel is still definitely happening. It also has an estimated release date set: sometime in October 2019.

As if that wasn’t enough to get excited about, Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (both of whom are returning) have revealed that the sequel will star the original cast.

“We’re going on the tenth anniversary of Zombieland,” Wernick told Vulture. “Zombieland came out October of 2009. We don’t know what you get someone for their tenth anniversary, but it may be a Zombieland 2. The hope is that we’re shooting that thing early 2019 for an October of 2019 release. With the original cast, by the way.”

Zombieland (2009) tells the story of a student trying to get to his family in Ohio following a zombie outbreak as he joins forces with a gun-wielding Texan looking for the world’s last Twinkie and a pair of con artist sisters searching for an amusement park in LA.

The film was directed by Ruben Fleischer and stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin and Bill Murray.

Zombieland 2 will be in cinemas from October 2019. Get all the latest horror news with every issue of SciFiNow.
