The new trailer for Peter Jackson’s Mortal Engines looks appropriately epic
A new trailer has arrived for the Peter Jackson-produced Mortal Engines, giving us much better look at the massive scope of the movie and introducing us to our fugitive hero Hester Shaw. And “epic” about sums it up, really.
“Thousands of years after civilisation was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.”
Jackson and his regular collaborators Phillipa Boyens and Fran Walsh adapted the book by Philip Reeve, and Christian Rivers, who has worked on all of Jackson’s movies since Braindead, makes his directorial debut.
In addition to Hilmar and Sheehan, the film stars Hugo Weaving, Jihae, Ronan Raftery, Patrick Melahide, Stephen Lang and Leila George.
Mortal Engines is in UK cinemas from 14 December. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
