IT: Chapter 2 casts Xavier Dolan

Just in case you thought all the IT: Chapter 2 casting excitement had ended with the final Losers’ Club line-up, there’s another name joining the film that’s a bit of an exciting surprise.

Deadline reports that Canadian filmmaker and actor Xavier Dolan (Tom At The Farm, Heartbeats, I Killed My Mother) has been cast in the key role of Adrian Mellon in Andy Muschietti’s sequel. The site describes the character as “a gay man living in Derry who was attacked by bullies,” but fans of the book will know that his short appearance near the very start of the novel is crucial in setting the tone and atmosphere, as well as showing the general attitude of the Derry PD and just what Pennywise is capable of.

Meanwhile, Will Beinbrink (I Saw The Light) is set to play Tom Rogan, the abusive husband of Beverly Marsh (Jessica Chastain).

The two join James McAvoy as Bill, Jessica Chastain as Bev, Bill Hader as Richie, James Ransone as Eddie, Isiah Mustafa as Mike, Jay Ryan as Ben and Andy Bean as Stanley, not to mention Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise.

The film will start production next month.

It: Chapter 2 is released on 6 September 2019. Keep up with the latest horror news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
