Zombieland 2 was confirmed back in July and since then the occasional rumour has sprung up about shooting dates and so forth (and one particularly mad one about how it had already been shot in secret), but now that director Ruben Fleischer is almost all done with Venom, it sounds like work is finally underway.
Speaking to Fandango about his Spidey spin-off, Fleischer revealed that a shooting date has been set for the Zombieland sequel.
“We’re already actually starting Zombieland,” he said. “I’ve been scouting and storyboarding and getting it going, and to get to work with that cast again is just an absolute dream come true. It’s been really exciting starting to think about that movie, and to get to work with Emma, Jesse, Woody and Abigail once again is truly a dream come true. Yeah, we’re just at the very early stages, but we have an amazing script, and we’re going to start shooting in Georgia in January.”
Deadpool‘s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have returned to write the script, and as previously announced, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin are all back for more zombie kills of the week, Twinkies and cardio.
Zombieland 2 is set to be released on 11 October 2019. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
