Nicolas Pesce’s Grudge has been moved forward a couple of months
A little thing like time isn’t enough to stop the Grudge: the remake of Takashi Shimizu’s 2002 horror has a new release date. It’s being moved forward from 16 August 2019 to 21 June 2019, according to Deadline.
The reshuffle is to make sure the film gets as wide an audience as possible, which means distributor Sony clearly has a lot of faith in it. However, the new release date will lead to it going up against Toy Story 4, so it’s probably safe to say it has no chance of becoming the biggest film opening that weekend.
Grudge is being directed by Nicolas Pesce (Piercing, The Eyes Of My Mother) from a screenplay by Pesce and Jeff Buhler. It stars Andrea Riseborough, Demián Bichir, John Cho, Lin Shaye, Jacki Weaver, Betty Gilpin, William Sadler and Frankie Faison.
Grudge is in cinemas from 21 June 2019. Get all the latest horror news with every issue of SciFiNow.
