Star Wars: The Mandalorian series adds Gina Carano

Gina Carano has joined the cast of Star Wars series The Mandalorian

The Star Wars news just keeps on coming: following the announcement that Pedro Pascal will be starring in the franchise’s upcoming The Mandalorian TV series, it has now been revealed that mixed martial artist/actor Gina Carano (HaywireDeadpool) will star alongside him. However, her role is currently being kept under wraps.

The new series has been penned by Jon Favreau, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels‘ Dave Filoni will be directing the first episode. Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow have all signed up to direct subsequent episodes.

Favreau and Filoni are also executive producing the show alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist will serve as a co-executive producer.

The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order, and will follow the adventures of a lone gunfighter (Pascal) in the outer reaches of the galaxy, away from the authority of the New Republic.

The Mandalorian doesn’t yet have an air date, but it will premiere on Disney+. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
