Upcoming Cassian Andor Star Wars TV series has found a showrunner in The Americans writer Stephen Schiff, according to THR.
The series is set to be a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and will revolve around rebel spy Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, during the early days of the Rebellion.
Since the new series seems to be going down the spy thriller route, Schiff might just be the perfect choice to lead it. While working on The Americans, which concluded with Season 6 earlier this year, Schiff helped earn the show two best drama series Emmy nominations.
The Star Wars show, which is currently untitled, is set to air exclusively on Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+.
Speaking in early November, star Luna said: “We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
The show is the second live-action Star Wars TV series on the way. The other is The Mandalorian, which will star Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano, and will take place in the time between the fall of the Empire and the emergence of the First Order.
