M Night Shymalan’s Tales From The Crypt reboot definitely isn’t happening

There’s been a major update on M Night Shymalan’s reboot of Tales From The Crypt, but we’re afraid it’s not a good one. Basically, we can all forget about it because it’s not happening.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Shymalan revealed that the project is “dead”.

“We tried everything that we could,” he said. “That was so mired in people that had rights to it… constantly mired from the original comic books to the people that did the original show and that was a very contentious era for that show and who was involved and all the stuff that had nothing to do with me, a generation before me.

“I begged them, ‘Please just give me the rights, we’ll do it this way, you’re going to be really happy’. But it didn’t work out that way and here we are.”

The project was previously reported to have ran into some tricky rights issues back in June, but were were rather hoping that something would happen and it would somehow find itself back on track. It now looks as though that won’t be the case, no matter how hard we wish.

However, if you were thirsting after an anthology series reboot, we still have Jordan Peele’s upcoming version of The Twilight Zone the look forward to.
