Jordan Peele’s reboot of The Twilight Zone has found another cast member in the form of The Walking Dead‘s Steven Yeun.
The actor is set to appear in an episode titled ‘The Traveller‘, and will joined the previously announced host and narrator Jordan Peele. Yeun’s role is currently being kept under wraps. Other announced cast members include Kumail Nanjiani, John Cho, Allison Tolman, Jacob Tremblay and Erica Tremblay.
Since exiting The Walking Dead following Gleen Rhee’s brutal death scene, Yeun has largely remained in genre, appearing in projects like Okja and Sorry To Bother You, and lending his voice to Trollhunters: Tales Of Arcadia, Final Space and Voltron: Legendary Defender.
The Twilight Zone is being produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Jordan Peele’s production company Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films. Both Peele and Kinberg will serve as executive producers alongside Win Rosenfeld, Audrey Chon, Carol Serling, Rick Berg and Greg Yaitanes. The show is set to air on streaming service CBS All Access in 2019.
Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone originally ran from 1959 to 1964, and there have been various revivals and reboots since, not to mention a movie. But with the success of shows like Black Mirror, Philip K Dick’s Electric Dreams and Room 104, it’s obviously a good time to bring it back from a network’s point of view. It also feels like the perfect time for a new batch of social commentary-driven, unsettling SF stories, and on the basis of Get Out, Peele is absolutely the perfect choice for this.
