The Terror Season 2 adds George Takei as a series regular and consultant

Star Trek alum George Takei has joined The Terror for Season 2 as both a consultant and a series regular.

The second season of the show will be set during World War II, and centres on “a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese-American community, and a young man’s journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible.”

As a cast member, Takei will play Yamato-san, a former fishing captain and community elder. But as a consultant, he is set to work closely with the show’s executive producers to ensure the accuracy of historical events and storytelling.

Takei’s own life experiences make him a suitable consultant for the show: when he was a child, he was imprisoned in two Japanese-American internment camps after the outbreak of World War II, and his personal experiences have led him to become a leading figure and activist for social justice.

Takei will star alongside Derek Mio as Chester Nakayama, Kiki Sukezane (Lost In Space) as Yuko, Miki Ishikawa (9-1-1) as Amy, Shingo Usami (Unbroken) as Henry Nakayama and Naoko Mori (Everest) as Asako Nakayama.

The season is co-created and executive produced by Alexander Woo and Max Borenstein, with Woo also serving as showrunner. Josef Kubota Wladyka is set to direct the first two episodes. Production will begin in January in Vancouver.

The Terror Season 2 will premiere on AMC in 2019, exclusive to BT customers in the UK. Get all the latest horror news with every issue of SciFiNow.
