Syfy’s Van Helsing has been renewed for Season 4 with a new showrunner
The fight isn’t over for Vanessa just yet; Syfy series Van Helsing has just been renewed for Season 4.
It’s also gone and found itself a new showrunner. Jonathan Lloyd Walker, who has been involved with the series since Season 1, will be taking over from previous showrunner Neil LaBute.
LaBute has left the show to work on Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi drama The I-Land, which is being produced by Van Helsing‘s Nomadic Pictures. However, he will still be involved with Season 4 of Van Helsing as a writer.
Speaking to THR, writer Walker said: “Season 4 will delve deeper into the iconic lore of the vampires and their ultimate goals for this world. New villains will rise along with unexpected heroes joining the fight. We have a fantastic build planned for this season and I’m thrilled to share it with our dedicated fans.”
Though Van Helsing has never been killer when it comes to ratings (it pulls in an average weekly viewership of around 400,000 on US broadcaster Syfy), its low production costs and loyal fanbase are enough to keep it on our screens.
Van Helsing Season 3 will premiere on Netflix UK early in 2019. Get all the latest sci-fi, fantasy and horror news with every issue of SciFiNow.
