The CW has officially ordered a Batwoman pilot

The CW has finally ordered a Batwoman pilot

It looks like The CW was happy with Kate Kane’s first Arrowverse appearance in last year’s three-way crossover event ‘Elseworlds‘; after months of teasing, the network has finally ordered a pilot for a Batwoman solo series.

The pilot will be led by Ruby Rose (Orange Is The New Black) as Kate Kane, with The Vampire Diaries‘ Caroline Dries serving as a writer and showrunner. Additionally, Game Of Thrones‘ helmer David Nutter, who also helmed the pilots for The Flash and Arrow, is on board for Batwoman in similar capacity.

Here’s The CW’s description of the potential series: “Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane [Rose] soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a saviour, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

Dries and Nutter are set to executive produce alongside Arrowverse mainstay Greg Berlanti and Berlanti Productions’ Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns.
