As the cast and crew are gearing up to leap back into the game for the sequel to Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, some new actors have started to join them.
Firstly, THR reported last weekend that the film has added actress and rapper Awkwafina. For those unfamiliar with Awkwafina, the rising star has been stealing scenes recently in blockbuster comedies like Crazy Rich Asians and Ocean’s 8, so we’re pretty excited about this casting news. Not mainly details surrounding her role in Jumanji have been released, but her character is being described as “key” and “significant”.
Secondly, the film has added Danny DeVito to the cast. If you don’t know Danny DeVito by now, the actor is famous for his roles in the likes of Matilda, Twins, Batman Returns, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, Get Shorty, LA Confidential, TV comedy It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and loads more.
Awkwafina and DeVito will be joining Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan in the sequel, all of whom are set to reprise their roles from the 2017 film.
Jake Kasdan is back to direct, working from a script by himself and Jumanji: Welcome The The Jungle writers Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Kasdan is also producing alongside Matt Tolmach and Johnson, under his Seven Bucks banner.
