There’s a Final Destination reboot on the way from the writers of Saw
The Final Destination franchise is getting another chance at life, according to THR. A reboot of the popular horror film series is currently in development, and it has Saw writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan behind it.
The new film is coming from original Final Destination production studio New Line, and Melton and Dunstan are set to write the script. The project is still in the early stages of development, so a director has not yet been signed. Plot details for the film are currently unknown.
The Final Destination series began in 2000 and concluded in 2011 after five films. The first film in the series was directed by James Wong, and raked in $112 million worldwide from a $23 million budget.
Each film follows a small group of people who manage to escape impending foretold deaths before they are killed off one by one in freak accidents caused by an unseen force creating complicated chains of cause and effect. The series was originally based on an un-produced spec script by Jeffrey Reddick, written for an episode of The X-Files.
