Zombieland 2 reveals new poster and title and adds Rosario Dawson

After a 10-year break, Zombieland seems to have truly awakened and decided to deliver as much news as possible while it has the momentum going.

Firstly, Zombieland 2 now has a proper title: Zombieland: Double Tap.

Secondly, the proper title was revealed on the film’s new poster, which is getting onboard the viral #10YearChallenge train (albeit a few weeks after we’d all forgotten about it):

Thirdly, the brilliant Rosario Dawson (Daredevil, RENT) has been added to the cast of the sequel, reports Deadline. Her character is remaining a mystery, but she joins original cast members Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin, as well as Zombieland newcomers Zoey Deutch and Avan Jogia.

The sequel will start filming in the next few days and will be released in October in time for the 10th anniversary of Zombieland. Director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) is returning to helm the film, while Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are writing the screenplay. Gavin Polone is producing, while Reese and Wernick are both serving as executive producers.

For those who are somehow unfamiliar with the original film, here’s the Amazon synopsis:

Nerdy college student Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) has survived the plague that has turned mankind into flesh-devouring zombies because he’s scared of just about everything. Gun-toting, Twinkie-loving Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) has no fears. Together, they are about to stare down their most horrifying challenge yet: each other’s company. Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin co-star in this double-hitting, head-smashing comedy.

Zombieland 2 is set to be released on 11 October 2019. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
