The pilot episode for HBO’s untitled Game Of Thrones prequel has just added five new series regulars to the cast, according to Deadline.
The new cast members include Marquis Rodriguez (When They See Us), John Simm (Doctor Who), Richard McCabe (Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams), John Heffernan (Dracula) and Dixie Egerickx (The Secret Garden).
They joined already-cast actors Josh Whitehouse (Northern Soul), Naomi Watts (Mulholland Drive), Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp and Toby Regbo.
SJ Clarkson has signed up to direct the pilot episode. The director is currently lined up to direct the next sequel in the Star Trek film franchise, and she has a lot of genre TV credits to her name, including episodes of The Defenders, Jessica Jones, Bates Motel, Heroes and Life On Mars.
The new series will take place thousands of years before Game Of Thrones, and will chart the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes to its darkest hour.
HBO released this logline for the show:
Only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend — it’s not the story we think we know.
Showrunner Jane Goldman co-created the series with A Song Of Ice And Fire author George RR Martin. The pair wrote the story, with Goldman writing the teleplay. She and Martin are also both set to executive produce alongside Daniel Zelman, James Farrell, Jim Danger Gray and Vince Gerardis, with Chris Symes co-executive producing.
