There’s a Tomb Raider sequel in the works with Alicia Vikander and writer Amy Jump
Alicia Vikander is officially set to return as Lara Croft in a sequel to MGM and Warner Bros’ Tomb Raider, according to EW.
If you were excited about the prospect of a new Tomb Raider film back in 2018 but were let down when it actually hit cinemas, all hope is not lost yet: the sequel also has a new writer on board in the form of Amy Jump.
Jump is known for adapting JG Ballard novel High-Rise for Ben Wheatley’s 2015 film starring Tom Hiddleston, as well as writing the script for Wheatley’s A Field In England and co-writing his 2016 film Free Fire.
Plot details for the Tomb Raider sequel are currently being kept under wraps, and the film doesn’t yet have a director attached.
The first film, which was helmed by Roar Uthaug and written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons, didn’t fare too well with critics upon its release, but it still managed to sweep in $274.7 million worldwide at the box office.
The untitled Tomb Raider sequel doesn’t yet have a release date. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
