Black Swan actor Vincent Cassel has joined the cast of HBO’s Westworld Season 3, according to Deadline.
The French actor, who is also known for his roles in the likes of La Haine, Ocean’s Twelve and Eastern Promises, is entering the show as a series regular and is reportedly set to play a villain. Character details beyond that are being kept under wraps for the time being.
“We’re incredibly excited to work with Vincent Cassel,” said co-creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. “We’ve been longtime fans of his and are thrilled for him to join the Westworld team.”
Cassel joins Westworld newcomers Aaron Paul and Lena Waithe, as well as returning stars Evan Rachel Wood as Dolores Abernathy, Thandie Newton as Maeve Millay, Jeffrey Wright as Bernard Lowe, Katja Herbers as Emily Grace, Gustaf Skarsgård as Karl Strand, Jonathan Tucker as Major Craddock, Ed Harris as the Man in Black and Anthony Hopkins as Robert Ford.
Production on Season 3 has already started but the season is not expected to air on HBO until 2020.
Westworld is based on the film written by Michael Crichton. Kilter Films and Bad Robot Production produce the series in association with Warner Bros Television. JJ Abrams, Athena Wickham, Richard J Lewis and Ben Stephenson all serve as executive producers.
