Marvel’s The Eternals has found its star: Game Of Thrones and The Bodyguard actor Richard Madden is reportedly in talks to take the film’s lead role.
If talks go to plan, Madden will star as Ikaris, a superhero with a life force augmented by cosmic energy, and total mental control over his physical form and bodily processes. As a result, he is virtually immortal, immune to disease and ageing and invulnerable to conventional forms of injury. He can also levitate, teleport and project cosmic energy in the form of beams, and has low level psychic abilities.
Marvel’s The Eternals is based on the 1976 comic book series by Jack Kirby, which follows a superhero group that goes by the same name. A fictional species of humanity, they each possess powers like flight, superhuman strength, teleportation, forcefield generation, transmuting objects and more. Together, they team up to defend the Earth and wage a war against their destructive counterparts known as the Deviants.
Madden joins a cast made up of Angelina Jolie as Sersi, an immortal member of the Eternals whole lives among humans, as well as and Kumail Nanjiani and Ma Dong-seok in unconfirmed roles.
Chloé Zhao (The Rider, Songs My Brothers Taught Me) is set to direct from a script by Matthew K Firpo and Ryan Firpo.
