After a two-season run at Amazon Studios, superhero comedy series The Tick has finally been cancelled.
Series creator Ben Edlund broke the news on Twitter this week, writing: “I’m sorry to say Amazon has chosen not to proceed with [‘The Tick’]. I’m not sorry to say I love this show, its cast, its story, and its message. Destiny demands that my compatriots and I now seek a new home for this series.”

Edlund clearly isn’t about to take no for an answer.
Based on Edlund’s comic book character of the same name, The Tick premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2016 and follows Peter Serafinowicz as an invulnerable blue superhero known as the Tick who teams up with a mild-mannered young man named Arthur, played by Griffin Newman, to fight crime.
The Tick also stars Valorie Curry as Dot Everest, Brendan Hines as Superian, Yara Martinez as Miss Lint, Scott Speiser as Overkill/Esteban and Jackie Earle Haley as The Terror.
Edlund served as an executive producer on the show alongside David Fury, Barry Josephson, Wally Pfister, and Barry Sonnenfeld, while Serafinowicz served as a producer with Patrick Warburton, who played the titular character in Fox’s 2001 live-action version of The Tick.
Though a small viewership likely came into Amazon’s decision to not renew the series, The Tick has received excellent critical feedback throughout its two seasons, so we hope another network will swoop in and save it before another Tick series bites the dust for good.
