Blade star Wesley Snipes will soon be back slaying the undead, but in a slightly different manner.
According to THR, the actor has joined upcoming zombie action thriller Outbreak Z. He will both star in the film and serve as an executive producer.
The story follows “two SWAT officers on a desperate hunt through an overrun college campus in search of a man who holds a vaccine to a zombie virus.” Snipes is set to play one of the SWAT officers.
Outbreak Z is being directed by Chris Brewster, who served as a fight choreographer and stunt performer on Netflix’s Daredevil, so we can probably expect the film to be packed with impressive action sequences. Outbreak Z will be Brewster’s directorial debut. Hamid Torabpur, Clint Narramore and Andrew Kightlinger wrote the script.
The project is coming from Winter State Entertainment, with Peter Wise on board as a producer, and Hamid and Camille Torabpour, Dr Mark Smith and Patrick Werksma executive producing alongside Snipes. The Walking Dead songwriter and producer Eric Arjes is writing the score for the film.
For those unfamiliar, Snipes is an actor, director, producer and martial artist best known for playing Blade in the Blade vampire slaying film trilogy written by David S Goyer. He also stars in films like New Jack City, White Men Can’t Jump, Demolition Man and Passenger 57, among others. He has a 5th dan black belt in Shotokan Karate and a 2nd dan black belt in Hapkido.
