Extant’s Eliza Clark will now be bringing Y: The Last Man to screens
FX’s Y: The Last Man adaptation hit a speedbump earlier this year when showrunners Michael Green and Aida Mashaka Croal departed, citing ‘creative differences’. But now it looks like the show is back on track, with Eliza Clark (Extant, The Killing) taking over showrunner duties.
Based on a comic by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, Y follows Yorick, the sole male survivor of a plague that has wiped out anything with a Y chromosome. In a statement Clark revealed that she’s been a fan of the comic series for the last ten years, and is thrilled to get the chance to bring it to screen.
The show already shot a pilot under Green and Croal’s leadership and has been given a full series order, but that pilot could now undergo some changes to bring it in line with Clark’s vision for the show. Pilot director Melina Matsoukas (Insecure) remains on board as an executive producer.
The show’s cast includes Barry Keoghan (The Killing Of A Sacred Deer), Diane Lane (Man Of Steel), Imogen Poots (Green Room), Amber Tamblyn (127 Hours) and Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel). Whether any of the cast will change under Clark’s stewardship is unknown.
Y is set to come to screens in 2020. Get all the latest TV news with every issue of SciFiNow.
