She’ll take on the role of the powerful Moiraine in Amazon’s Wheel Of Time series
Amazon’s adaptation of Robert Jordan’s Wheel Of Time fantasy series was announced some time ago, but now it’s taking very definite steps towards production, with Gone Girl actress Rosamund Pike cast as Moiraine.
The news was announced on Twitter, complete with a picture of Pike reading The Eye Of The World, the first book in the Wheel Of Time series.
Pike has dipped her toe into fantasy before – she appeared in The World’s End and Wrath Of The Titans – and is a fantastic actress, so we look forward to seeing what she does with Moiraine, a member of a powerful all-female organisation on a mission to save the world. Moiraine’s companions on her quest have yet to be cast, but with production due to begin in September, we can expect more casting announcements soon.
Rafe Judkins (Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.) is on showrunner duty, and the first two episodes are being directed by Uta Briesewitz (Westworld, Stranger Things).
