Wynonna Earp Season 4 is greenlit by SYFY

Wynonna Earp Season 4 is back on!

Following a somewhat shaky start, during which the future of the show began to look bleak, IDW Entertainment, SEVEN 24 Films, Space and SYFY have announced that Wynonna Earp is officially moving ahead with Season 4.

Production is expected to begin later this year, with the new season premiering in summer 2020 on SYFY in the US and on Space in Canada.

We’re not surprised the powers that be were keen to get the show up and running again: Wynonna Earp won the 2018 People’s Choice Award for Favourite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show and continues to grow its cult following, gaining new fans every day.

The series follows the life of the great, great granddaughter of the legendary lawman Wyatt Earp as she battles revenants, the reincarnated outlaws that Wyatt killed. She also fights other supernatural beings that inhabit the Ghost River Triangle, a cursed territory near the Canadian Rockies, which includes her home town, Purgatory.

Wynonna Earp stars Melanie Scrofano as the titular character, Shamier Anderson as Deputy Marshal Xavier Dolls, Tim Rozon as Doc Holliday, Dominique Provost-Chalkley as Waverly Earp and Katherine Barrell as Officer Nicole Haught.

It is based on the comic series of the same name by Beau Smith, and developed for TV by Emily Andras, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer.

“We are absolutely thrilled that we get to make more Wynonna Earp, and are grateful to our networks and partners for working hard to ensure we can,” said Andras. “This is an enormous testament to our passionate and fierce fans, the Earpers, who remind us every day how to fight like hell for the things you love with wit, ferocity, and kindness.”

Wynonna Earp Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix UK now. Get all the latest supernatural news with every issue of SciFiNow.
