Chris Rock’s Saw reboot has added Samuel L Jackson to the cast
Samuel L Jackson (Pulp Fiction, the Marvel Cinematic Universe films) has officially joined the cast of Liongate’s upcoming Saw reboot, the studio has confirmed.
Chris Rock is set to lead the cast as a police detective attempting to solve a string of grizzly murders, while Jackson will play Rock’s father.
The rest of the current cast is made up of Max Minghella as Rock’s partner William Schenk and Marisol Nichols as Rock’s boss Captain Angie Garza.
Speaking of Jackson’s casting, Chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Joe Drake said: “We think Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock along with Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols make this film completely special in the Saw canon and we can’t wait to unleash this unexpected and sinister new story on fans of this franchise. This is next level of Saw on full tilt.”
The upcoming film is being directed by Saw II-IV helmer Darren Lynn Bousman, with Jigsaw writers Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger penning the script from a story by Chris Rock.
Saw II-VI, Saw 3D and Jigsaw producers Oren Koules and Mark Burg are returning the produce the film. Executive producers on board include Rock, long-time Saw EP Daniel Heffner and series creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell.
