Amazon’s Lord Of The Rings TV series is finally in the casting stage of development, according to Variety.
Markella Kavenagh is in talks for a role in the epic fantasy series, and will be playing a character called Tyra. Information regarding what kind of character Tyra is is being kept tightly under wraps.
Kavenagh is kind of small and therefore hobbity, so using our best detective skills we’re going to guess she’s playing a hobbit. Although she could also easily be playing a human or an elf, or even a dwarf. The only race we’re going to rule out is orc (although we’re prepared to be completely wrong on this).
Relatively new on the TV and film acting scene, Kavenagh”s credits only date back to 2018, but she’s been involved in TV series Romper Stomper (the Australian sequel series to the 1992 film of the same name), Picnic At Hanging Rock and The Cry. She’s also played a part in upcoming films True History Of The Kelly Gang, My First Summer and short Furlough.
JA Bayona is set to direct the first two episodes of the new series. Bayona is also set to serve as an executive producer, along with his producing partner Belén Atienza. JD Payne and Patrick McKay have signed up to write the series, with Game Of Thrones‘ Bryan Cogman on board as a consultant and Breaking Bad‘s Gennifer Hutchison making up part of the writers’ room.
The series will be set during the Second Age, more than 3,000 years before the start of The Fellowship Of The Ring.
