Amazon is working on a TV series of Event Horizon with Adam Wingard attached
Even in the midst of all the TV reboot news that’s floating around right now, we weren’t expecting this fine nugget: there’s a TV series of Event Horizon in development at Amazon Studios.
According to Variety, Adam Wingard is set to executive produce and direct the potential series. Wingard is well known among genre fans, having worked as a director on You’re Next, The Guest and Netflix’s Death Note adaptation. He also helmed the upcoming monster movie Godzilla Vs. Kong, which will hit cinemas next March.
Larry Gordon, Lloyd Levin and Jeremy Platt will join Wingard as executive producers, with Gordon and Levin both also producing. Not much else is known about the new series at this point.
The original Event Horizon film was released in 1997, directed by Paul W S Anderson and written by Philip Eisner. It centred around a spaceship, called the Event Horizon, that disappeared after testing an experimental gravity drive capable of creating an artificial black hole that was meant to allow the ship to travel to distant points in the galaxy. The film followed the journey of the rescue crew that was sent to investigate the mystery. It starred Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill.
