James Wan’s Atomic Monster acquires rights to horror novel The Troop

James Wan’s Atomic Monster is making a film of YA horror novel The Troop by Nick Cutter

James Wan’s production company Atomic Monster is gearing up to adapt YA horror novel The Troop after acquiring the rights, according to Deadline.

The novel, written by author Nick Cutter, is described as a cross between 28 Days Later and William Golding’s Lord Of The Flies. It follows a group of teenagers who must fend for themselves when the adult chaperone of their remote camping trip succumbs to an aggressive otherworldly virus.

EL Katz, the director of Cheap Thrills, is set to helm the film, and will be working from a screenplay by Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald.

Wan is producing through his Atomic Monster banner alongside JS Entertainment and Starlight Media, with Michael Clean also serving as a producer and Judson Scott overseeing things. The film is yet to set a cast or a release date.
