Hailee Steinfeld is in talks to play Kate Bishop in Marvel’s Hawkeye
Following the news that Mad Men scribe Jonathan Igla has joined Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Hawkeye as a writer and executive producer, the show might have also found its Kate Bishop.
According to Variety, Bumblebee star Hailee Steinfeld is currently in talks for the lead role. If negotiations are successful, she will be joining Jeremy Renner, who is reprising his role as Clint Barton, AKA the original Hawkeye.
As well as Bumblebee, Steinfeld is known for her work in the likes of the Pitch Perfect films, The Edge Of Seventeen, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and Ender’s Game. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for playing farm girl Mattie Ross in True Grit.
The series is set to follow Barton as he teaches his protege Kate Bishop how to be a superhero without having superpowers and take on the mantel of Hawkeye. It is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney+ (which launches on 12 November this year) in the autumn of 2020.
Hawkeye is just one of many Marvel series currently lined up for a Disney+ premiere. The first series to hit the streamer will be The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, set to be released in the autumn of 2020, with WandaVision and Loki following close behind.
