American Gods Season 3 adds Marilyn Manson

Musician Marilyn Manson is elbowing his way into all the good genre projects. Following the recent news that Manson would be making an appearance in Hulu’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, Deadline is now reporting that he’ll be joining Starz’s American Gods for Season 3 as well.

Manson will play blood-thirsty Johan Wengren, the lead singer of the Viking death metal band Blood Death, for a four-episode arc. In Neil Gaiman’s book, Wengren and Blood Death are also a source of power for Mr Wednesday (Ian McShane) in his war with the New Gods.

Speaking of Manson’s casting, the series’ showrunner Chic Eglee said: “As a long-time admirer of his estimable talent as an author, artist, musician and actor, it is dope indeed to be working with Mr. Manson in Season 3 of American Gods.

“Bringing his specific energy, wit and boundless enthusiasm for all-things-Neil Gaiman to the role of Johan, a Norse ‘berserker’ in service to Odin, his performance promises to be disturbing, original and uniquely entertaining.”

Season 3 of American Gods is set to premiere next year. The series stars Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon, Ian McShane as Mr Wednesday, Emily Browning as Laura Moon, Crispin Glover as Mr World, Bruce Langley as the Technical Boy, Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, Pablo Schreiber as Mad Sweeney, Orlando Jones as Mr Nancy, Mousa Kraish as the Jinn, Omid Abtahi as Salim and Demore Barnes as Mr Ibis.

American Gods Season 3 will premiere on Starz in the US and Amazon Prime in the UK next year. Get all the latest fantasy news with every issue of SciFiNow.
